This restoration of a 15th century cross wing to a hall house required much removal and repair of late interventions to return the structure to it’s original condition. A chimney was dismantled and the removed top plate and rafters reinstated using dry oak stock to scarf to existing. This is a good example of thoughtful and well executed timber frame conservation.
