Great Fosters Dining Hall

Great Fosters Dining Hall
Originally The Green Oak Carpentry Company were asked to quote for cladding a steel frame to make it look like the existing historic timber frame which had been condemned. We did this whilst at the same time submitting a proposal to fabricate the dinning hall as an authentic oak frame, which as it turned out was less expensive. The client did not need to think about it too long! This beautiful sling brace trussed structure speaks for itself.

Tiers of wind braces form rows of arcades that diminish as they rise up into the roof. Careful selection of curved stock was important to ensure consistency and quality of the numerous curved members used in the construction of this roof.
