Once a 16th Century royal hunting lodge, the building is now a grade II listed farmhouse. Tell-tale signs of a high status building are the shaped purlin ends, decorative panels to the gable, and heavily moulded tie beam. (Photography: Duncan McNichol)
Dry Oak was carefully pieced into voids left by the decay and glued and mechanically fixed. The braces in particular had suffered much though we retained as much as possible without compromising longevity of the job overall. (Photography: Duncan McNichol)
The original panels all had to be removed to facilitate the repairs, and were reinstated using unhardened, haired lime render and left unpainted. The warm buff colour of the panels is due to the red iron oxide naturally present in the sand. (Photography: Duncan McNichol)
“"I wanted to drop you a quick note to show my appreciation for your guys efforts today; they were a pleasure to have around the house and worked hard to get the frame up today."
