The Stables Conservatory
1 / 7
This small extension was designed by our own architects, and forms a dining and sitting room area adjacent to the kitchen.
Large sliding folding doors in the central bay open out to allow enjoyment of the garden when the weather allows.
Although newly established, good landscaping completes the picture and adds greatly to the amenity of the new conservatory extension.
Glazing a building can be expensive but worth the expenditure to achieve results like this. Black Pig Frame Glazing were employed at The Stables to complete the glazing and are, without doubt the Rolls Royce of frame glazing companies.
Cappings are from quarter or rift sawn well air dried oak, also note here that two sections have been used for both the main posts and tie beam cladding, both to ensure stability and performance of the system. Note the Copper flashings used here to weather the cappings on horizontal surfaces.
Lighting a frame well takes care and forethought, especially as cable runs must be planned to ensure they remain discreet. We are happy to cut grooves for these at the time we make the frame, hence planning this work should form part of the detailed design prior to getting into the building works.
Altogether a successful outcome for the client, and a great addition to their home.
“"We have constructed several buildings using Oak frames designed, manufactured and erected by the Green Oak Carpentry Company. We are pleased to confirm that their work is accurate, well detailed and delivered on time. They are knowledgeable and we find working with them easy and straight forward. We therefore have no hesitation in recommending them."
Robert, Trembath Associates
“"Just a quick note to say thank you for sending such a great team to do the work. As well as clearly being very hardworking and hugely skilled, Mick, Andy, Clark and Dave were all exceptionally pleasant, considerate and cheerful guys to have around, and as such a huge credit to Green Oak."
Julia, Crabfields Farm
“"Thank you for the frame that you have just finished at Rogate. It was a miserable wet day, yesterday and John and team carried on regardless. We are delighted with the overall look and also the mouldings to the members. As usual, the frame was millimetre accurate and will be easy to take forward to complete the building."
Bob, Trembath Associates
“"We wanted to write to you to express our profound gratitude for the excellent work you have done on our building scheme. It cannot have been easy to pick up the project from another architect when there were still a number of issues unresolved, but you have done so brilliantly and remained calm throughout, even at fraught times. We really do appreciate that you have gone the extra mile for us. We have all enjoyed working with you and have been so impressed with the quality of your work."
Alastair, The Early Years Project
“"Everyone is very impressed with the finished result and I thought I would just take the opportunity of belatedly giving my thanks to you and your team for a job very well done. I have submitted the bridge for a Civic Society award for next year and have every expectation of its success."
