This lovely Cotswold lakeside cabin was designed by us and the build completed in 2016. The whole idea of the building was to create a space for living that is both informal and fun; an ideal family get away. The main living area is open plan to the kitchen and dining areas, a concept increasingly popular with our clients.
Clad in wide sawn Larch weatherboarding and roofed in cleft Spruce shakes, the effect is really attractive and blends well with the rural setting. The Green Oak Carpentry Company were later commissioned to add the balcony, accessed from the sleeping loft for alfresco sleeping on warm summer evenings.
The large glazed south facing gable gives wonderful views across the lake and floods the interior with light. The extent of the glazing is extreme and might not be to everyone’s taste, but the effect is stunning.
The perfect place for the family to gather after dinner and enjoy the views across the lake.
Sandblasted Oak beams, powder coated blue steel, glass and white painted sarking boarding over the Oak rafters give warmth and add a contemporary feel to the interior.
The steel spiral staircase gives access onto the bridge that spans between the upstairs bedroom and the ‘sleeping loft’ to the left of this picture. The glass balustrade does not impede the long views through the building.
View across the bridge to the ‘sleeping loft’. Note the double doors onto the balcony seen in photo no.2.
A lovely dusk shot taken of the cabin from across the lake. We had to wait until the light went for this shot to avoid the unsightly green algae resulting from the long hot summer (but we didn’t tell you that!)
“"We wanted to write to you to express our profound gratitude for the excellent work you have done on our building scheme. It cannot have been easy to pick up the project from another architect when there were still a number of issues unresolved, but you have done so brilliantly and remained calm throughout, even at fraught times. We really do appreciate that you have gone the extra mile for us. We have all enjoyed working with you and have been so impressed with the quality of your work."

“"I wanted to drop you a quick note to show my appreciation for your guys efforts today; they were a pleasure to have around the house and worked hard to get the frame up today."
Paul, Contracts Manager
“"Just a quick note to say thank you for sending such a great team to do the work. As well as clearly being very hardworking and hugely skilled, Mick, Andy, Clark and Dave were all exceptionally pleasant, considerate and cheerful guys to have around, and as such a huge credit to Green Oak."
Julia, Crabfields Farm
“"Seems a long time since we finished with the garden room project but we have to say that it has been a huge success in every aspect. The room has become the place of choice for visitors. I can guarantee that everyone, yes everyone who visits, is blown away by the frame."
