The use of historic styles of carpentry such as the arched collar braced truss has created a truly elegant open plan living area in this barn conversion in Wiltshire. Note the use of blacksmith wrought tie rods to assist in preventing the top plates spreading under the load of the roof. Staining the timber boarding of the roof brick red gives warmth and richness to the interior and contrasts with the pale straw colour of the oak beautifully.
Well executed barn conversions make beautiful homes. Large glazed wall panels have been installed into several of the south facing bays along with large areas of roof lights. Reinstatement of the water reed thatch was a condition of grant of planning and is expected to last around 35 years on this steeply pitched roof.

“"Thank you for the frame that you have just finished at Rogate. It was a miserable wet day, yesterday and John and team carried on regardless. We are delighted with the overall look and also the mouldings to the members. As usual, the frame was millimetre accurate and will be easy to take forward to complete the building."
Bob, Trembath Associates
“"I wanted to drop you a quick note to show my appreciation for your guys efforts today; they were a pleasure to have around the house and worked hard to get the frame up today."
Paul, Contracts Manager
