Standing seam aluminium and clay tile roofing, black stained timber boarding, brick, flint and glass are all thoughtfully combined to complement each other.
The Oak frame which has weathered to a silver-grey, softens the architecture and combines well with the landscape completed shortly after the new dwelling.
The substantial glazing is separated from the oak frame and is set within a steel frame to ensure stability of the large glazed panels. Water brings softness and life to the structure, one complementing the other.
Contemporary scissor braced trusses with black painted tendons create a stunning atrium.
A pergola forms a shady area for al fresco dining. Note the steel flitch plates let into the post bases which extend through the decking to the concrete pad foundations to which they are bolted. This lifts the timber up away from the splash zone to aid longevity.
“"Everyone is very impressed with the finished result and I thought I would just take the opportunity of belatedly giving my thanks to you and your team for a job very well done. I have submitted the bridge for a Civic Society award for next year and have every expectation of its success."
