Park House Hotel Pool Barn
1 / 3
This large oak trussed roof graces the swimming pool of a five star hotel. Note the through wedged tenon of the half truss of the last tie beam, a strong and elegant carpentry joint much underestimated in its capacity to carry load in tension.
Large King post type trusses are very efficient and easily carry the 10 metre span of the building. Note the pegging of the counter bladed scarf joints in the centre of the tie beams, illustrating the fact that the tie beams of King post trusses act primarily in tension and not bending.
The purlin at the end of the building over the mezzanine are carried on half trusses jointed to the mid-span of the end King post truss tie beam, giving a structurally elegant solution to the problem of how to support the purlin returns.

“"We have constructed several buildings using Oak frames designed, manufactured and erected by the Green Oak Carpentry Company. We are pleased to confirm that their work is accurate, well detailed and delivered on time. They are knowledgeable and we find working with them easy and straight forward. We therefore have no hesitation in recommending them."
