Hall Grove School – Dining Hall
1 / 5
The New dining Hall at Hall Grove School is a game changer. Replacing existing cramped facilities and greatly improving the kitchen layout for the staff, the space can also be used for small concerts and gatherings. The initial design concept was by RHA Architects Ltd, with Green Oak’s own architect Christopher Williams being asked to submit planning and complete the detailed design, and later to have some oversight of the construction phase.
3D modelling like this is a useful tool to help inform the client and aid the design. Compare this CGI with the previous photo showing the building as built.
Initially the internal structure was to have been an oak frame with octagonal or round section columns and timber roof structure, as shown in this CGI created by us to illustrate how this might look.
A simplified version of the oak frame was also considered as shown here, but alas, this was not to be the case and for cost reasons, a steel frame was adopted instead.
The roof lantern floods the interior with light and led Alastair Graham, the school’s headmaster, to dub this building ‘The Lighthouse’. The result is a beautiful multi-functional space that is a pleasure for all to use. It has been and continues to be a pleasure to work at Hall Grove School’.
“"We wanted to write to you to express our profound gratitude for the excellent work you have done on our building scheme. It cannot have been easy to pick up the project from another architect when there were still a number of issues unresolved, but you have done so brilliantly and remained calm throughout, even at fraught times. We really do appreciate that you have gone the extra mile for us. We have all enjoyed working with you and have been so impressed with the quality of your work."
Alastair, The Early Years Project
“"Thanks for the excellent job which has just been completed on the Oak Frame extension to the above property. Not only is the quality of the work faultless, it is a true work of art, which will bring endless enjoyment to me and my wife. The end result has surpassed our wildest expectations."

Paul, Contracts Manager
“"Just a quick note to say thank you for sending such a great team to do the work. As well as clearly being very hardworking and hugely skilled, Mick, Andy, Clark and Dave were all exceptionally pleasant, considerate and cheerful guys to have around, and as such a huge credit to Green Oak."
Julia, Crabfields Farm
“"Just to say that it looks fabulous, and all who survey it are wonder-struck. Best wishes and many thanks to you all."
