What are the benefits of an oak framed garage?

We use oak heartwood in our oak framed garages which is full of natural preservatives, making it extremely durable and resistant to insect attack and rot. Each of our garages is built using traditional carpentry techniques, resulting in a robust structure that will withstand the British weather for many years to come. Having been built with PEFC-certified French oak from carefully managed forests, your Green Oak Carpentry oak framed garage is a sustainable choice, helping protect our natural world.
Do I need planning permission for an oak framed garage?
In many cases, an oak frame garage will not need planning permission, so long as it meets certain criteria – single-storey, under 4m tall, away from the front of your house, and not used for sleeping. However, there are situations where an outbuilding will need planning permission, such as if you live in a National Landscape, if your home is listed or if you’re planning an oak framed garage with room over. We’d always recommend you err on the side of caution and talk to an architect or planning consultant about planning permissions – we can put you in touch with one of our trusted connections.
