Sawmills Office

The remarkable quality of this structure is evident. The oak frame follows an upper cruck design, encompassing ground floor offices and reception areas, along with workshops on the first floor. This space serves as the headquarters for a British watch manufacturer renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship.

Although not commonly associated with office environments, the upper cruck truss design creates an incredibly beautiful and functional space. The raised tie style truss is particularly favoured and works effectively in this setting. Within a story and a half frame, it also serves the purpose of controlling building height and streamlining the planning process.

The incorporation of a high-performance patent glazing system onto the frame, complemented by a timber capping to conceal the frames, demonstrates meticulous attention to detail. This dedication to excellence earned the building a well-deserved Chiltern Society Building Design Award.
